Woodland Presbyterian Church is an inclusive community of faith seeking to share God’s love for all Creation, welcoming everyone to full and equal participation in the church, promoting deep concern for the ecology of the earth, seeking to embody in our lives the love of God embodied in Christ Jesus.
As a More Light congregation, and a member congregation of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, Woodland works for the full inclusion and participation of men and women in the life and ministry of the church, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Preaching for us this Sunday, we are pleased to welcome back to Reverend Stacy Rector. Stacy is a native of Dyersburg, Tennessee, a graduate of Rhodes College and Columbia Theological Seminary. She served as Associate Pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Nashville for nine years. In 2006, Rev. Rector became Executive Director of Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (TADP), an organization whose mission is to honor life by abolishing the death penalty. She also served as spiritual advisor to Steve Henley, an inmate on Tennessee’s death row who was executed on February 4, 2009. She served as vice- President of the national board of People of Faith Against the Death Penalty and now serves on the board of Community Shares Tennessee. Reverend Rector also serves on the Committee on Preparation for Ministry of the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee.
Woodland Wednesdays will begin with a community dinner at 5:30 PM. These dinners are growing and require lots of helping hands. If you are interested in serving in some way, please contact Megan Morton. Contributions of any amount can also be made to help support the ongoing cost of suppers.
Member Feature: Kay and Tom Eldridge
Kay and Tom have been members of Woodland since 1981. They were married in the Chapel in 1971, but didn’t start coming regularly until after their son, Patrick, was born. Kay’s grandparents were long time members and she often came with them and sometimes dragged Tom along while they were dating. Patrick is an only child and is now married to Shannon and they have two sons, Jacob (almost 8) and Gavin (4 ½). Tom and Kay look forward to spending time the boys and try to see them at least once a week.
Tom was born in Nashville and was raised in Inglewood. Kay was born in Shreveport, LA, but spent her childhood in multiple locations from the gulf coast in Mobile to Texas and New Jersey. They met when Kay was 15 and Tom was 17. Tom enjoys fishing and spending time on the computer, and Kay is a gardener, swimmer and enjoys reading. They enjoy traveling and try to take one vacation a year with Patrick and family and a couple by themselves.
