As a More Light congregation, and a member congregation of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, Woodland works for the full inclusion and participation of men and women in the life and ministry of the church, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Woodland hosts a Saturday Supper for anyone who would like a meal. If you would like to help or contribute, please contact Kelli McClendon at 615-417-8220.

Woodland 101 Continues

Our Sunday time of fellowship and discussion begins at 9:30. Led by friends from Woodland and from the Presbytery, our “Woodland 101” class will examine what makes us who we are. Adults and children over the age of 10 are welcome. We will also have activities for children under the age of 10. This Sunday, October 23rd, is the seventh installment in Woodland’s “Woodland 101” education series. This Sunday’s discussion will focus on sacraments. Children are welcome. Coffee, juice and pastries are offered.

Worship: Sunday worship service begins in the Sanctuary at 10:30 AM.  As always, we welcome and encourage you to join each Sunday and into the life of this vibrant and inclusive community of faith.

A congregational meeting will be held Sunday, October 30th following worship to elect a new class of elders, and to elect a new Congregational Nominating Committee.

Preaching for us this Sunday is Lindsey Groves. Lindsey is the Presbyterian Campus (UKirk, meaning “University Church”) Minister for UKirk Nashville, which is an official student organization at Belmont and Vanderbilt Universities, and also serves other young adults in our city. As a part of her call in our presbytery, Lindsey also serves as the Presbyterian (USA) Chaplain at Vanderbilt, and is a member of the Community of Campus Ministers at Belmont. In addition, she works alongside other campus ministers, on the national UKirk board, which is the new-ish network serving all of the PC (USA) campus ministries. Lindsey lives on this side of the river, and enjoys worshiping and doing other fun things at Woodland and in Five Points whenever her schedule allows.

Woodland Day of Service: on the last Saturday of the month, we gather at the church to do some some easy, and easier, maintenance and upkeep. All skills and no skills are welcome.  The next day of service will be Saturday, October 29th from 10am until 12noon. We are looking for contributions to purchase a few flats of pansies and other fall annuals to brighten up the beds and planters in the front of the church. Our time together is often followed by lunch. Come join us!

Woodland Wednesdays Supper is taking a break for the month of October to do some planning and growing. We hope to return in November ready to cook.
