This Week at Woodland

Woodland hosts a Saturday Supper for anyone who would like a meal. If you would like to help or contribute, please contact Kelli McClendon at 615-417-8220.

Our Sunday time of fellowship and discussion begins at 9:45.

Sunday worship service begins in the Sanctuary at 10:30 AM.

This Sunday, July 31st, we are pleased to welcome Rev. Dr. Guy D. Griffith to the pulpit at Woodland. Guy is Associate Pastor for Adult Education and Spiritual Nurture at Westminster Presbyterian, a position he has held since 2006. Prior to coming to Nashville, he served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Dalton, GA, and as associate pastor of Covenant, Charlotte, NC and FPC Libertyville, IL. His first call out of Princeton Theological Seminary was as new church developer of the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church in the northern Atlanta suburbs. His D.Min. is from Columbia Seminary in Christian Spirituality. Currently he serves as the Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry Chair and was a commissioner to this year’s General Assembly. A native of Bethlehem, PA, Guy is married to Amy who hails from Greeneville, TN. They are preparing to become empty-nesters as their twins, Benjamin and Leah, are heading off to Rhodes and William & Mary in two weeks.

Woodland Wednesdays will begin with a community dinner at 5:30 PM. These dinners are growing and require lots of helping hands.  If you are interested in serving in some way or making a financial contribution, please contact Megan Morton.

Member Feature: Greg Gardner

Greg is from Sharon, TN, and grew up in the Cumberland  Presbyterian Church. He’s a former banker and a graduate of Vanderbilt Divinity School where he studied pastoral care. Greg has been attending Woodland for three years and became a member earlier this year. He heard about Woodland through his service with the local More Light Presbyterians Steering Committee where he serves as treasurer, and his friendship with Woodland’s former pastor, John McCullough. In recent years, Greg served as an Elder on the Session at Hillsboro Presbyterian in Nashville, and is now an Elder on the Woodland Session. He also serves as the chair of Woodland’s Membership and Community Committee. Outside of church he works in landscape design, enjoys reading theology, and has an elderly and loving Jack Russell Terrier.
